A quiet, grounded space for men to connect, grow, and build lasting friendships rooted in trust, integrity, and shared experiences.
LEARN HOW TO JOIN US
Most Naked Minnesota events are private - members only, with guests welcome if accompanied by a member or pre-approved by a Board Member.
New attendees must complete a trial event before being offered membership (waived for existing naturist group members), which lets you evaluate the group while allowing us to screen applicants. All members must abide by the Naked MN Code of Conduct. Men of all orientations and identities who are 18 or older are welcome regardless of appearance.
After a successful trial, annual membership is $10 (single) or $20 (couple/household), including a monthly newsletter, events calendar, private email group, and full event access.

Naked Minnesota is a male-identified naturist social group based in Minneapolis, founded in 1989 as the Minnesota Polar Bares. After a name change in 1997, the group has grown into one of the most active and respected naturist clubs in the U.S., with over 500 members.
As a non-landed club, events are hosted at members' homes, public lands, or rented facilities. Open to men of all orientations and identities aged 18+, the group welcomes a diverse range of ages, body types, and backgrounds. If you're interested in social and recreational nudity, we'd love to have you check us out.
Naked Minnesota hosts four to six events monthly - cocktail parties, swimming, game nights, potlucks, campouts, holiday celebrations, and more. Special events are occasionally shared with other nudist groups. Most events are Saturday nights in the Twin Cities metro, with some outstate and out-of-state trips mixed in. A small fee ($5–$20) covers event costs. Bring a towel to sit on during the events; BYOB, food to share, accessibility, smoking, and pet presence, etc. vary by venue.
Sex is not permitted during Naked Minnesota events.
For most of us, the idea of being naked in front of others feels intimidating. We've been conditioned to hide our bodies and told they're too big, too small, too hairy — rarely "good enough."
We link nudity with sex, so a partner is usually the only one who ever sees us bare. But it doesn't have to be that way.
Naturists — a growing community worldwide — have discovered that social nudity doesn't have to involve sex or shame. They enjoy being around bodies of all shapes, ages, and backgrounds, describing shedding their clothes as freeing and relaxing.
Most naturists simply want safe, legal spaces to enjoy their lifestyle. With over 10,000 lakes, Minnesota still has no legal nude beach, so our members travel, find private venues, or join clubs like Naked Minnesota.
Unlike clothing-optional groups where attendees choose their own comfort level, Naked Minnesota is a nudist group requiring full nudity at all events. This policy discourages curiosity-seekers and ensures a fair, respectful experience for everyone.
Exceptions are made for weather, safety, or medical needs, and footwear is encouraged in appropriate situations.
What to expect: All attendees should bring a towel to sit on. New members are welcome to hold a towel for comfort while getting settled — however, wearing it as a sarong or wrap is generally not acceptable.
Minnesota permits nudity in private locations where no one who might be offended could reasonably encounter it, or as part of a legitimate dramatic performance.
In practice, nudity is generally legal:
Note: Lewd behavior is never acceptable at nude sites and ruins access for everyone.
Erections are far less common than most expect. Just as men don't experience erections in locker rooms or medical exams, the body naturally recognizes when arousal is inappropriate.
Spontaneous erections can occasionally occur, are short-lived, and are understood as normal bodily functions — no one is shocked or offended. However, actively inducing or maintaining an erection is strictly prohibited.
No. Naked Minnesota events are non-sexual social gatherings. Sexual activity during events is strictly prohibited. Do not attend with the expectation of finding sex.
Interested men must attend a private trial event first — membership is not available without attending a trial. After your trial, membership ($10–$20/year) is required to continue attending events.
Guests of current members may attend one event per year without joining. Out-of-town naturist club members residing 300+ miles away are also exempt.
Not at all. One of nudism's core principles is that every body is accepted. Age, size, and physical traits are irrelevant here — personality and shared interests matter far more.
Attendees must be at least 18 years old. Our community spans from members in their 20s to well beyond, with most attendees in their 40s and 50s.
Naked Minnesota is a male-identified nudist group. Sexual orientation is irrelevant — gay, bi, trans, and straight men are all equally welcome.
Women are warmly encouraged to check out Minnesota Naturists (mnnaturists.org), a clothing-optional, mixed-gender group we collaborate with regularly.
There are no official public nude beaches in Minnesota. While Twin Cities spots like Twin Lake or Mississippi River Flats have history, they are heavily patrolled and not recommended.
Naked Minnesota hosts "canuding" events on the water/islands along the St. Croix Scenic Riverway where nudity is legal on the water/islands.
The terms are largely interchangeable today. "Nudist" traditionally referred to members of organized clubs, while "naturist" describes non-sexual social nudity in natural or social settings. We use both terms interchangeably.
